2025 Valrico Fishhawk Chamber of Commerce Vocational School Application

Application Due Date: March 1, 2025

Eligibility Requirements:
• The candidate’s parent or guardian must be a resident of the Valrico/FishHawk area with student attending
Bloomingdale HS, Newsome HS, Durant HS or parent is a current paid member of the VFCC.
• Two (2) proofs of residency and school will be required with this application ie: DL, copy of a utility bill, mortgage bill.
• Candidate must be a graduating high school senior.
• Candidate must have at least an un-weighted 3.0 or higher GPA.
• Candidate must be accepted at a vocational school, proof must be provided with this application.
• The award will be made without regard to financial need.
• Application must be filled out in its entirety including essay. If something is not applicable write in “N/A” in the blank. Do not leave any blanks empty. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Selection Criteria:

Recipients will be chosen on the basis of the following: • Community Service • Extra-Curricular Activities • Academics • Letters of Reference

Must Include the Following:

• Completed Application • Community Service Time Sheet • Official High School Transcript and Discipline Record • Proof of Acceptance from a vocational school • Reference letter from high school faculty member and community service organization • An essay, 500 words or less, stating why you would be an excellent choice for this scholarship.

Additional Information:

• Scholarship monies are paid directly to the student to assist with tuition and required books. • Submissions become the property of the Valrico/FishHawk Chamber of Commerce. • Incomplete applications will not be considered. • S.C.O.R.E., a third-party group of former business owners, has volunteered to be the selection committee. Their decision of winner(s) is final. • Candidates agree to all the rules of this document. • Only the winner(s) will be contacted.

Winners

The winner(s) and their families will be invited to the Valrico/FishHawk Chamber of Commerce General Assembly on April 8, 2025 at River Hills Country Club where the winner(s) will be announced and awarded their checks. Their name and photos may be released to any interested news organization and used on the chamber website and social media platforms.
